Disney has already started building the ambitious Star Wars Land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. To make room for this new land built around the existing Star Tours, they closed several locations around the park including restaurants, attractions, and icons.
Don’t worry, though. Disney is going to make up for it.
Lately, they’ve been surveying guests to gauge interest in a Star Wars themed resort hotel.
There’s a lot of empty space around The Studios, but it’s surrounded by hotels of all levels including Disney’s Art of Animation Resort and Disney’s Pop Century Resort at the Value Resort level, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort at the Moderate level, and Disney’s Boardwalk Resort at the Deluxe Resort hotel level.
It wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to imagine another hotel opening in the area. What’s more, Disney CEO Bob Iger has recently hinted that more hotels might be coming to Disney World.
This Star Wars themed hotel would be a totally immersive experience at a whole new level. The hotel would literally be inside Star Wars land giving guests unprecedented access to the area in the park. It would be a luxury resort, costing around $1000 per person for a two-night stay, and look like the ships from the movies including a hotel lobby, guest rooms, and common areas.
That may sound like a lot of money, but keep in mind that you get all the traditional things included in the Disney resort hotels like a pool and fitness area, but you may well also get a Star Wars themed water garden, an onboard cantina, and droid butlers! Since it’s all-inclusive, breakfast, lunch, and dinner are also included. The rumor is that guests will also get a personalized and customized list of secret missions plus interactions with characters, live performers, flight and lightsaber training, and the opportunity to explore the ship.
This is, apparently, just in the planning phase right now, but Imagineers are certainly on the case and have created concept art. Star Wars Land is set to open in 2019, so there’s plenty of time to make a hotel happen.
