Disney’s Hollywood Studios is preparing for the grand opening of the new Toy Story Land on June 30th, and many people are talking about all the new attractions. Yes, they look pretty awesome, but there’s a new counter-service dining location also coming to the land that is going to blow your taste buds away!
Woody’s Lunch Box, as the story goes, was set up by the toys as a place for them to get a snack. Since you’ve been shrunk down to the size of a toy, you can also get some food from Woody’s Lunch Box as the Little Green Army Men stand guard watching for Andy’s return.
The menu includes breakfast items plus a lunch / dinner menu which consists mostly of sandwiches and other “on the go” kind of food. Since Woody’s Lunch Box is a walk-up window, this is an important attribute of the food.
Many of the dishes take a modern spin on classic “lunch box” items. However, the Flavor Lab has really outdone themselves because any mom or dad who makes sandwiches like this for their kids’ lunches is definitely using Pinterest!
Let’s take a look at the menu for Woody’s Lunch Box!
Woody has some really good stuff on his breakfast menu like the breakfast bowl combining potato barrels, country gravy, and scrambled eggs or the Western Omelet Sandwich that layers eggs, smoked turkey, Swiss cheese, peppers, and onion on a grilled sourdough bread.
Perhaps the biggest news is that of the S’mores French Toast Sandwich. It kind of broke the internet when its details were announced this week. The sourdough bread is made into French toast then stuffed with chocolate ganache and marshmallow fluff and topped with graham cracker crumbs. Now that’s worth the trip!
The chefs at the Flavor Lab have created their own version of PopTarts in a raspberry form topped with icing and dried fruit and a chocolate hazelnut pastry topped with icing and caramelized bacon. Yum!
Lunch & Dinner
The lunch and dinner menu has a few sandwiches plus side dishes and kids’ meals so everyone in the family will be happy.
Let’s start with the sandwiches. The Barbeque Brisket Melt sandwich is a nod to Cowboy Woody made Texas style with smoked brisket, cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses, pickes, and BBQ sauce all on a garlic butter-grilled sourdough toast.
There’s also a Smoked Turkey sandwich on multi-grain bread. It’s not grilled, but it’s a quintessential lunch box sandwich.
Finally, the Monte Cristo makes its debut East Coast appearance after being a hit in Disneyland at Café Orleans. The Disneyland version is a deep-fried dough stuffed with ham, turkey, and swiss cheese then fried and dipped in a raspberry puree. Disney World’s version will be grilled instead of fried, and the raspberry jam will be inside of the sandwich. Fans say it’s the perfect mix of sweet jam and salty meats.
Sides include tomato basil soup, vegetable macaroni salad, potato barrels (tater tots), and mini Babybel snack cheese, which is the official snack cheese of Disney World.
There’s another item on the menu that isn’t a sandwich or a side dish, but it’s really an entrée on it’s own. The Totchos bowl starts with potato barrels and corn chips and adds chili, cheese, and sour cream for a tasty option with a Mexican vibe.
Kids can choose grilled cheese or turkey sandwiches served with potato barrels and mandarin oranges.
Every good lunch box has to include some kind of yummy dessert, and Woody’s Lunch Box does not disappoint.
The Lunchbox will offer a Banana Split Yogurt Parfait made with greek yogurt, a touch of honey, fresh strawberries and pineapple, and topped with granola and chocolate chips.
Woody also added old-fashioned floats to the menu. There are three different flavors include cherry, root beer, and coke.
All the Disney World theme parks now serve alcohol, and adults will be happy to know that even the grown-up drinks at Woody’s Lunch Box will make you feel like a kid.
The Mystic Portal Punch is made with Powerade Mountain Berry Blast with lemon-lime and tangerine. This is not an alcoholic beverage, and it’s served in an adorable Alien Sipper light-up souvenir cup.
When it comes to alcohol, guests can choose the Lemon Cocktail made with cherry vodka, Odwalla lemonade, and black cherry puree and a variety of beer and hard cider.
