Whispering Canyon at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort has long been a very fun restaurant. Cast Members teased guests in gest, kids were invited to gallop around the restaurant on stick horses, and when you asked for ketchup or refills, you got much more than what you bargained for.

All of these things were just for fun, but apparently some people weren’t entertained.

Not everyone does as much research on Disney World restaurants as you would think. After some complaints, Disney tried using colored coasters: when the red side was up, guests didn’t want to play, but when the green side was up, they were all in! Unfortunately, this wasn’t enough of a change to squelch these complaints. Since Wilderness Lodge is a Deluxe Resort, perhaps guests expect a more luxurious experience.

Whispering Canyon will still serve mighty fine food, but the fun and games are reportedly on their way out.

Did you notice that I’m writing in past tense? That’s because Whispering Canyon has changed it approach and has removed some of the fun elements that made the restaurant unique.

Disney confirmed the changes on Twitter saying, “We are continuously updating our offerings throughout Walt Disney World Resort and are currently working on what’s next for Whispering Canyon. We apologize for any disappointments.”

At this point, we’re not sure how far these “disappointments” will go. Will all of the shenanigans end or just some of them? Temporarily or permanently?  Only time will tell.

Will you miss the fun and games at Whispering Canyon?
