I have always been fascinated by signs. Maybe that sounds funny, but signs are really intriguing things. They need to provide information. They need to be succinct, and often-times they are also a work of art.
Disney spends lots of time on their signs. Some of Disney’s signs are downright amazing, and each one not only gives you directions or provides information, but many set the mood, and give you a preview of what is to come.
Not long ago, Disney created some new merchandise, art really, that has been inspired by some of the classic signs you can see around Walt Disney World.
These pieces of art are created from wood or metal, and in many cases, they really look just like the original you can find in the park itself. Other times, the artist who created the merchandise sign combined several elements when designing the art.
These signs are available at the Animation Gallery at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and cost $150, except for the smaller Gaston’s Tavern sign, which is $60.
Let’s take a look at some of these signs.
