Star Wars: GalaxyÕs Edge is the first land within a Disney park designed to integrate with the Play Disney Parks mobile app, which debuted last year. Guests who choose to use the Play Disney Parks app in Star Wars: GalaxyÕs Edge at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California, and at Disney's Hollywood Studios in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, will be able to transform it into their very own Star Wars: Datapad. The app provides new opportunities for guests to engage with the land. (Richard Harbaugh/Disney Parks)
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge – Play Disney Parks App Integration
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is the most technologically advanced land that Disney – and perhaps anybody – has ever built. It’s the first land designed to integrate with an app too.
Play Disney Parks debuted last year and enhanced guests’ experience in the theme parks, in queue lines, in Disney resort hotels, and even from home.
Now, when you enter the Batuu limits, your Play Disney Parks app transforms your smartphone into your very own datapad. As you explore the 14 acres of Galaxy’s Edge and use the app, the land comes to life! You can even earn Galactic Credits and build your own personal profile; the more you do, the more detailed your profile.
This version of the app allows you to engage with the land in an entirely new way. You can translate Aurebesh and other alien languages, scan cargo containers and find out what inside, hack door panels and interact with droids, and tune antenna arrays to eavesdrop on the First Order and the Resistance. It’s up to you what you do with the information that you gather; your actions will have an effect on the land and other guests, so choose wisely.
Check out this video for details on how to use the app to find an active door panel, hack it, and earn points!
Here are some photos which show the process also:
Play Disney Parks also has an in-queue game aboard the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run attraction. Are you capable of piloting the Falcon? Prove your worthiness in this game!
