Boys & Girls Club Get Sneak Peak Ride on Millennium Falcon

Disney decided to share a little magical pixie dust and support the local Orlando community by welcoming more than 1,000 members of the Boys & Girls Club of Central Florida for special community preview of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

These guests tasted the famous Blue Milk and other exclusive Galaxy’s Edge treats, rubbed elbows with some famous (and some infamous) Star Wars characters, and got to try their hand at piloting the biggest hunk of junk in the galaxy- the Millennium Falcon.

Disney has a long-standing relationship with this historic organization. In fact, Disney has been providing financial and community support for 50 years! In the last ten years, Disney has donated $7.5 million to the Boys & Girls club alone, which is only a part of the $34.5 million donated in 2018 alone. Disney also provided 360,000 VoluntEARS hours to community organizations in need.

Ahead of the scheduled August 29th opening Disney will also welcome 140 Wish Families staying at the Give Kids the World Resort. These kids have been diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses, so a visit to Disney World can offer some semblance of normalcy allowing them to forget their illness even for a moment while they enjoy this immersive and amazing story!

Does Disney do a good job of supporting the local community?
