Fireworks are a huge event in Walt Disney World. In fact, Wishes alone costs about $50,000 every night; that’s over $18 million every year! Many guests think there’s nothing more magical than seeing Wishes in the heart of Magic Kingdom with a few thousand of your closest new friends.
I’m here to tell you that this is not exactly true.
There are a few resorts in the Magic Kingdom Resort Area that offer amazing views of not only the Wishes show, but as a bonus, you can catch the Electrical Water parade.
5. Fort Wilderness
Fort Wilderness comes in at number five because there isn’t a great view of Wishes at this area, but this is one of the best locations to see the Electrical Water Pageant. Beginning around 9:45 and lasting over 15 minutes, guests can see mythical and natural sea creatures light up the Seven Seas Lagoon.
4. Grand Floridian
The beaches of Grand Floridian and Narcoossee’s Restaurant are great places to see Wishes and the Electrical Water Pageant beginning around 9:15 pm. The waterfront verandah at Narcoossee’s offers amazing views of both shows, but at $30-$60 a meal, you’ll pay for the experience.
3. Contemporary Resort
The Contemporary Resort and especially Disney Vacation Club’s Bay Lake Tower has amazing theme-park view rooms ranging from Studios to Villas. When booking your room at the Contemporary, be sure to book the Theme Park View Room to get the best view. Step out on your room’s balcony, and snap some high quality photos with unobstructed views.
2. Polynesian Village Resort
Like the Grand Floridian, the Polynesian Village Resort has white sand beaches complete with beach chairs and hammocks. Stake out a spot on the beach, spread a blanket, and enjoy a glass of wine with your significant other. I speak from experience when I say there isn’t much that could be more romantic that this.
If the sand isn’t your cup of tea, the pier of the resort also has great views and some benches. From our experience, there aren’t many people in either of these areas even during the fireworks or the water pageant. This quiet serenity is hard to find in Disney World.
1. California Grill
California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort rounds out our list at number one because of the incredible atmosphere. Even better, you don’t have to have reservations during the show to get this experience. Guests with reservations during the show can stay at their table and have clear views of Wishes. Those with reservations before or after the fireworks can watch from the lounge or the observation deck. If you dined before Wishes, show your receipt at the second floor check-in desk for re-entry. If you’re eating later, your reservation is enough to get you in.
