As a Disney Vacation Club Member, you’re entitled to a number of awesome perks called “Membership Extras.” These extras include discounts, a special DVC-only lounge in the Imagination pavilion at EPCOT, and even DVC-exclusive ticketed events at the parks.
Just a few short years ago, the only requirement to receive things like discounts or access to events was that you were a DVC member at all.
Sometime in the late 2010’s the requirement was raised to being a DVC member as well as having 75 points that were purchased directly from Disney (not acquired on the resale market). Disney soon after increased the number points purchased directly from the company to 100 points.
Rumors now suggest that Disney will raise the minimum of directly-purchased points to 125. If our very very rough calculations are correct this would come out, on the low end, to approximately $24,000 ($186/point X 125 points), or $315/month for 10 years. The cost depends on your home resort. DVC points directly from Disney can cost $235 or more, meaning an investment of about $29,000 to receive Membership Extras.
DVC member? Will 125 minimum direct-purchase points for perks impact you?
