Disney’s Riviera Resort is officially open, and guests haven’t wasted any time heading to the resort to check it out. When I attended the Grand Opening last week. I encountered lots of people who stopped by just to check it out!
Thanks to the nice folks at Disney’s Media Relations, I was able to get a first look at the resort, and I wanted to share my experience with you!
Let’s take a look at the exterior and grounds of Disney’s Riviera Resort!
Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by these beautiful fountains on either side of the porte-cochere.Off of the lobby, you’ll find this inviting balcony overlooking the activity lawn and leisure pool and the beautiful waters of Barefoot Bay.If you go from the lobby to the first floor and out the doors, you’ll. Find this long, beautiful hallway, which leads to Primo Piatto.
Recreation
This bocce ball lawn is located just off of this exterior hallway.Disney’s Riviera Resort is u-shaped allowing for lots of recreational space behind the resort!This is a great place to play games all day including Connect Four and corn hole.To the left of the resort, the rooms provide a nice view of the S’il Vous Play aquatic play area.This is the view from the Beau Soleil Pool to the back of the resort.
Grounds
Riviera Resort reflects the European Riviera in the colors and landscaping.
The resort is beautifully decorated with colorful flowers and sculptures.The palm trees throughout the resort add great height to the grounds and add to the Riviera feel.Don’t forget to look down! There are seashells in the sidewalks!There are plenty of signs throughout the resort to tell you where to go.This lamp post provides light to the path and signs pointing you in the right direction.Riviera is a great place to walk! The sidewalks offer great views of the beautiful building that is the Riviera Resort.This is the movie lawn where you can watch movies every night! It’s located right behind the Riviera Pool.
Accommodations
Even the materials and coloring chosen are inspired by Walt and Lillian’s travels in the Riviera.
First floor rooms feature walk-out patios while upper floors offer nicely equipped balconies.The awnings add a nice touch of color.These tables lining Barfoot Bay have a great view of the Skyliner and are a great place to relax with a good book or answer some e-mails.
Skyliner
This is the view from the resort to the Skyliner station.These beautiful fountains line the tunnel from the resort to the Skyliner station.The plan from the beginning was to integrate the Skyliner into the resort, and it’s nicely done!The views of the Skyliner from Disney’s Riviera Resort are awesome!When you arrive on the Skyliner, it’s like a grand entrance to the back of the resort!Welcome to Disney’s Riviera Resort from the Skyliner!
Caribbean Beach Influence
The property that is now Disney’s Riviera Resort used to belong to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, which can clearly be seen from Riviera and accessed by walking around the path of Barefoot Bay.
