Disney Increases Prices on Reusable Shopping Bag

Do you purchase souvenirs when you visit Disney World? Of course, you do! I think we would be hard-pressed to find someone who went to Disney World and didn’t purchase anything.

If you’ve visited recently, you may have found that Disney Cast Members now typically ask if you want to purchase a reusable bag.

When they were first released, it wasn’t a big deal. The bags cost just $1 for a small bag and $2 for a large bag. These bags are really nice, sport fun designs, and are themed for the location. Plus, with more grocery stores also forgoing the humble plastic bag or giving credit for bringing your own reusable bag, the investment was nominal and justifiable.

This week, Disney announced price increases for Annual Passes and overnight parking, and now they’re increasing the cost of their reusable bags.

A small reusable bag will now cost $2, and the large bag will cost $3. While this is still a small fee, it is a big percent increase.

Fortunately, you can avoid or at least manage how this price increase affects your wallet. If you bring your own bag like a backpack, you can just refuse a bag all together and use your own. You can also purchase one large bag and put as much in it as will fit. Obviously, you can wear any attire or accessories you purchase or kids can carry a toy like a plush. Finally, you can opt to have your items sent to your Disney Resort Hotel room.
