Disney recently updated their “Know Before You Go” website to update guests on new opening dates for a number of Walt Disney World Resorts.
The Resorts and their (new) opening dates are as follows:
- Disney’s All Star Movies- March 22, 2021
- Disney’s Beach Club Resort- May 30, 2021
- Disney’s Wilderness Lodge- June 6, 2021
- Disney’s Polynesian Resort- Summer 2021
This new timetable draws attention to a few interesting points for the future of WDW.
First, for a number of the Resorts, these opening dates have been pushed back, almost by an entire month. One example is the reopening of Disney’s All Star Movies which was flipped from February to mid-March. All Star Movies was not the only resort to have their opening date pushed back recently.
Next, Disney’s All Star Movies would be the first and only of the “All Stars” to receive an opening date. This is significant because these All Star Resorts are Disney World’s “Value Resorts”, which are often significantly cheaper than the deluxe or moderate Resorts that are listed above or are currently in operation.
Lastly, no specific opening date was given for Disney’s Polynesian Resort. The Poly is currently receiving a major makeover with several areas of the Resort being updated. It has been rumored that the goal for a reopening date for the Resort has been sometime before Disney World’s 50th Anniversary (October 1, 2021), but information of an opening date stopped there. It appears Disney is still not comfortable to announce a hard reopening date.
