Four Options For Planning A Birthday At Disney World

Disney World is a great place to celebrate – from graduations to holidays to honeymoons, Disney knows how to help you have fun.

One way you can make a birthday extra special is by celebrating it at Disney World.

Visiting the parks and taking in the rides and shows is a fine way to celebrate on its own, but you can make a birthday extra special by planning a birthday party, ordering a cake, or even taking advantage of some small but fun freebies.

Here are four options for planning a fun birthday at Disney World:

1 – Lilo’s Playhouse Birthday Party

For very special birthdays, for kids who really love Disney characters, or for families that are fortunate to have larger budgets, a kid’s birthday party at the Lilo’s Playhouse at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is a good choice. The premium package, which runs upward of $70 per guests with minimum fees, provides a two-hour party with a theme of your choice, including Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, a luau, sports, pirates, or princesses. For your money, you get a cake, pizza, drinks, crafts, games – and perhaps most importantly – a visit from the Disney character of your choice based on your theme: Stitch is available with the luau theme, Peter Pan with the pirates theme, Cinderella or another princess for the princess theme, etc. There are many ways to mix and match the character and the theme. The character will visit with guests for two, thirty-minute sets with a break in between. If your budget will allow it, you can add one or more additional Disney characters for $400 each. Be sure to book the party at least a week in advance. Call 407-WDW-BDAY for more information, the latest details and prices, and booking details.

2 – Goofy’s Candy Company Birthday Party

Goofy’s Candy Company is located in Disney Springs. A party for up to 12 guests is about $370. You can select from two different themes. The scien-terrific themed party includes games, a party balloon, build-a-slushy cups and drinks, a treat which you can decorate, and glow glasses. The birthday guest of honor also receives a gumball machine. The princess-themed party also includes games, a party balloon, build-a-slushy cups and drinks, a treat which you can decorate, and glow necklaces. The birthday girl gets a sash, crown, and a boxed glass slipper. When you consider the cost of the room, the treats, and the fact that you don’t have to plan or clean up, this birthday party can be a pretty good deal. 3 – Birthday Cake

Most table service restaurants will offer a general celebration cake for about $20 without an advanced reservation – just ask for it when you check in. However, if you would like a special cake, you should make arrangements at least two days in advance. Call the Disney cake hotline (yes, there really is such a thing) at 407-827-2253 to make arrangements. The nice folks at the cake hotline can also arrange to deliver a cake to your Disney resort hotel room.

4 – Fun Freebies

Disney offers several fun freebies when it is your birthday. When you enter a park on your birthday, go to the guest services location and request a free birthday button. Many Cast Members, and even other park guests, will wish you a happy birthday. While there are no guarantees, also be sure to let your resort front desk cast members and restaurant check in podium cast members know about birthday, too. They won’t always do something, but often they will make an extra effort to make your day special – from putting balloons in your room to singing happy birthday.

Birthday Fun

Having a birthday should be fun. By checking into the four options above, you can also make the day extra special, too.
