Disney World recently rolled out mobile ordering at several quick service restaurants including Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café and Tomorrowland Terrace both in Magic Kingdom‘s Tomorrowland, Flame Tree Barbecue, Pizzafari, Restaurantosaurus, and Satu’li Canteen in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and D-Luxe Burger in Disney Springs.

More restaurants will soon join the trend including Pinocchio Village Haus in Fantasyland, Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Café in Frontierland, and Columbia Harbour House in Liberty Square. Later on, the Liberty Inn and the Electric Umbrella in Epcot and the ABC Commissary and the Backlot Express in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Why is this a big deal? Because you’ll no longer have to stand in line and order your food from a Cast Member.  Now, you’ll be able to place your entire food order right from your smart phone with the MyDisneyExperience app and pay for it using your credit card.

Let’s see how it works!

1. The Home Screen

If you haven’t logged into your MyDisneyExperience app recently, you’ll notice that it now looks a little different. One of the things that has been added is the “Order Food” option, which is what we’ll be looking at today.

From the home screen, tap "Order Food."

If you don’t see this option, you might need to update your MDE app.

2. Choose a Restaurant

After you tap “Order Food”, you’ll see a page that lists the current restaurants participating in mobile ordering.

Select the restaurant where you plan to eat. Simply tap to move ahead.

4. Choose an item

Tap on any meal that looks good, and you’ll see the “Item Details” page that shows you what sides are available. Once you’ve filled in all the options, tap “+Add” to add the meal to your cart.

Repeat this until you’ve selected all of the meals you need for your party. You can also adjust the quantity if you want to order more than one of the same meal.

5. Add More

Click on the bag, and the app will give you the option of adding more items including fountain drinks and desserts. Add as much as you want, but be careful not to exceed the $150 limit!

Continue adding items until your order is complete.

6. Check Out

Once you’ve added everything you need (or reached your $150 limit), tap “Purchase.” The app is currently only accepting credit cards for mobile ordering, but hopefully they’ll be able to accept the Disney Dining Plan soon. Mobile ordering also does not allow for discounts Tables in Wonderland and those available to Annual Passholders.

7. Tell Disney You’re Ready!

When you arrive at the restaurant, tap “I’m here, Prepare my order.” You can build your order from anywhere in Disney (or really the world, for that matter), and when you’re ready to eat, you just have to tell Disney you’re ready.

In fact, when you get within range of the restaurant, the app will prompt you to tell the chefs to prepare your food. Depending on where you are, you might not see this option immediately. You have to be close to the restaurant for it to pop up. This helps prevent food waste.

8. Pick up your meal

When your meal is ready, the app will send you a push notification you telling you to pick up your food at the Mobile Order Pickup location.

9. Personalize

You can still use all of the self-serve options in the restaurant and get ketchup, mustard, and whatever else you need to make your meal just the way you like it.

10. Enjoy!

Sit down and enjoy your meal knowing that you saved anywhere from 5-15 minutes. You didn’t have to stand in line, and you made the most of every minute you have in Disney World.
