When you are at Disney World, you are on vacation. There are unlimited fun things to do. Many of them are included in the price of your Disney World ticket, but others cost extra. And those extras can add up fast. We all need to watch our budgets, but we want to have some extra fun too.
Here are some ideas on fun ways to splurge on your Disney vacation.
Most of us need to watch what we eat and monitor our calories. Fortunately, calories don’t count at Disney World! Ok, yes they do – but at least you can convince yourself that you wall walk many of them off. After all, the average guest walks about 13 miles in a typical day at Disney. Take advantage of that, splurge, and enjoy some of the special snacks that Disney offers. One of my favorites is the vanilla ice cream on a stick covered in dark chocolate, and shaped like Mickey Mouse. Another is the rice crispy treat on a stick, covered in milk chocolate, and shaped like Mickey Mouse. I think I see a trend…
Eating at Disney World can be expensive. Whether you stick to quick service meals or you purchase a Disney Dining Plan option, food isn’t cheap. While not cheap, there are some incredible options for terrific meals. For your kids, or for those who are kids at hear, Disney character dining is a terrific choice. You get to see characters without waiting in long lines. Dinner shows like the Spirit Of Aloha at Disney’s Polynesian Resort or the Hoop De Doo at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground combine food, fun, and entertainment. And Disney offers some amazingly good restaurants, with the oh-so-good and oh-so-expensive Victoria & Albert’s at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa.
Unless you have an extra billion dollars in the bank, nearly any of us could be bankrupted by buying souvenirs. They are fun, high quality, and expensive. If necessary set a souvenir budget, but allow yourself the guilty pleasure of picking up at least one memento of your experience. You will be able to enjoy it for years to come and it will help you remember the special memories you made and the special experiences you enjoyed.
Speaking of special experiences, this is a great splurge if you have been to Disney World many times. Yes, we will never tire of going on the Rock N Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, but there are many fun things to do at Disney World that aren’t inside the theme parks. Consider a behind the scenes tour so that you can get a sneak peek of back stage to learn how Disney create magic. Or arrange for a fishing expedition or parasailing adventure.
There are many ways to treat yourself at Disney World. Decide on your budget and plan a little time and money for a splurge to make your vacation just a bit more fun and memorable.
