Five Great Things About Disney’s Boardwalk

Of all the Deluxe Disney Resorts, the Boardwalk Inn may be one of the most overlooked.

That’s too bad.

The Boardwalk has a lot to offer, from a wonderful seaside theme to a prime location.

There’s a lot to love about the Boardwalk.

Let’s take a look at five reasons why you might just want to consider Disney’s Boardwalk Inn for your next vacation:

1 – Great Theme

While Orlando is in the middle of the state of Florida and at least an hour’s drive from any beach, you wouldn’t know it from the look of the boardwalk. It truly feels like you have been transported to a seaside town. It’s like you’ve teleported to the New Jersey shore – just without the undesirable attributes sometimes associated with the real thing.

2 – Great Dining

Whether you are looking for a breakfast treat, a quick lunch, or a luxurious dinner, the Boardwalk has you covered. Here are some of your options:

Boardwalk Bakery – Enjoy baked goods for breakfast or anytime, plus lighter fare like soup, sandwiches, and salads.

Big River Grille & Brewing Works – Eat inside or outside on the boardwalk. This microbrewery is a family-friendly place to enjoy a meal together with a handcrafted beer.

ESPN Club – It’s all sports all the time. If there is a big game on, you can probably catch it here. You can enjoy some “typical” sports bar fare like chicken wings or a Philly cheesesteak, or more upscale offerings like tuna tartare, Asian chicken salad, or top sirloin.

Flying Fish Café – This restaurant is all about seafood, for the most part. The dress codes encourages you to get cleaned up just a bit. Enjoy fresh ingredients like crab, snapper, and steak. Foodies will enjoy the five course prix fixe menu paired with specially chosen wines. Dinner entrees run $30+.

3 – Great Walking

After a good meal you might want to walk off a few of the calories you’ve consumed. Fortunately the boardwalk is there to help you out. A complete circle is just under a mile and makes for a very pleasant stroll, especially early or late in the day.

4 – Great Entertainment

After a nice meal and a little walk, you will probably want something to do. The Boardwalk delivers here, too.

In the evening you can enjoy the performers putting on free juggling and magic shows. For those who want to get their groove on, the Atlantic Dance Hall hosts at DJ late into the evening and does not have a cover charge. Rent a surrey bike, take in the dueling pianos at Jellyrolls, or stroll over to Fantasia Gardens mini golf for 18 holes of fun.

5 – Great Location

Have you heard the old adage in real estate: What are the three most important factors in buying a house? Location, location, location. I think the same probably holds true when it comes to selecting, and yes paying for, a Disney Resort Hotel.

All the fun of Epcot is just a short walk away. The International Gateway entrance of Epcot gives you quick and easy access to all the shops and restaurants of World Showcase, and a fast way to escape the crowds and head back to your seaside sanctuary after Illuminations.

Overlooked, But It Shouldn’t Be

Yes, many folks never consider the Boardwalk when planning their Disney vacation, but they should. The sea is calling your name – maybe it’s time to answer!
