Keeping Up With Your Fitness Routine on Your Disney Vacation

When some people think of a Disney World vacation, they think of tired feet. After all, some people report that the average person will walk more than 13 miles a day while on their Disney vacation. That’s more than half a marathon! Others think about a time to kick back and relax, leaving behind the routines and responsibilities of daily living. Still others subscribe to the idea that calories don’t actually exist at Disney World.

However, some folks think about how they can maintain their fitness routines while at Disney World. Perhaps they are training for a race or they just want to maintain their health. Fortunately, there are several ways that you can enjoy your vacation and stay healthy while at Disney World.

Disney Resort Fitness Centers

Most deluxe level Disney resort hotels have extensive fitness centers that offer treadmills, elliptical machines, stationary bikes, and a combination of free weights and weight training machines. They also offer locker rooms with showers and saunas. For those who need some motivation, you can arrange for a visit by a personal trainer. For those who need a bit of relaxation, you can arrange for a massage.

In-Room Workouts

For those who don’t want to leave their families while they run to the fitness center, you can do plenty of exercises in your room with little or no equipment. Try a few sets of pushups, squats, and burpees (where you begin by standing, then drop and kick your feet back, then stand and jump; it’s a killer exercise). If you plan ahead just a bit, bring resistance bands. They take up very little space, and you can close them between the door and its frame for resistance training.

Walking and Running Paths

For those who like to walk or run outside, there are plenty of great options. Take a tour of Disney’s Boardwalk, run around the Seven Seas Lagoon near the Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, and Disney’s Grand Floridan Resort and Spa (although the trail is not a full circle), check out the Sassagoula River near Disney’s Port Orleans Resorts, or wander the forested path between Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Disney’s Fort Wilderness.

Plenty Of Options

If you are looking to keep up with your fitness routine while at Disney World, you will find plenty of options that will certainly add some Disney magic to your everyday routine.
