As part of efforts to make Epcot more family friendly, Disney will relaunch Mission: SPACE on August 13, 2017.
The attraction will include an updated Orange Mission, which will be renamed Mission Space – Mars. The attraction will include a new video created by ILM, or Industrial Light and Magic, the visual effects firm that is part of LucasFilm and now Disney itself.
Disney will also open a new version of the Green Mission, which will be renamed Mission Space – Earth. Instead of visiting Mars, guests will visit earthbound sites like the Hawaiian Islands, Italy, and the beautiful Northern Lights. The mission will end with a landing the Kennedy Space Center in Florida (ironically, a competitor of the Walt Disney World Resort).
The new Mission Space – Earth attraction will have booster seats that will allow children 40-44” to experience the attraction.
