Walt Disney Imagineer Zach Riddley announced on the Disney Parks Blog that the construction walls are down in the EPCOT entrance plaza, revealing the completed entrance fountain. While Riddley said that Disney will still complete more work in the future, they have finished much of what they have planned. Early concept art showed flags on top of the buildings around Spaceship Earth, so those may still be coming later.
Disney removed the legacy monoliths from EPCOT’s entrance and has installed new pathways, new planters, and new landscaping.
Everything Old Is New Again
The new fountain occupies the same space as the original EPCOT fountain and is inspired by the original design. At the center of the water feature are three dramatic acrylic pylons which are each 16 feet tall and include the park’s classic logo. The center of the fountain includes a powerful liquid-cooled light.
