There’s something almost magical about the All-American, small-town shops on the main street of every hometown. It’s no surprise then that Walt Disney and his Imagineers wanted to recreate and preserve this hometown feel in Walt Disney World. With this goal in mind, the merchandising often influenced the design of the shops through the Disney World Parks.
Over time, the physical layout of the shops has changed, and the merchandise selection has turned toward the Disney Parks-branded items. Some of the unique, hometown accents have been lost.
Not all the magic is gone, though!
For those who are willing to seek out the unique shops, it will just take a little more work to find what you’re looking for. What’s more, these shops are often quiet, so visitors will experience old-time superior service from Cast Members.

The House of Good Fortune
This unique shop in Epcot’s China Pavilion is full of surprises that even the tightest souvenir budget can accommodate. Visitors will find tea sets with everything from classic Chinese designs to more modern lily pads and orchids. Also worth mentioning are the metal boxes great for jewelry, along with vases, jars, dolls, dragon figurines, parasols, puppets and toys.
Let’s take a look:
As an added bonus, this shop sometimes put items on sale, which you almost never see on Disney property.
