This Disney Vacation Club resort in the Disney Springs Resort Area covers 65 acres of green hills and waterways reminiscent of its upstate New York inspiration.

In addition to equestrian sports, Saratoga Springs made a name for itself around the turn of the century as a resort and spa destination. It’s a small wonder that Disney chose this idyllic and popular retreat as the basis for one of its own deluxe vacation experiences.

The site of this resort was originally the main campus of the Disney Institute – an experimental hands-on learning resort where guests could study the secrets of making Disney magic. Alas, the Disney Institute as a stand-alone, physical campus is gone.  These days, Saratoga Springs is the largest of the Disney Vacation Club resorts.

Although many of the rooms are Saratoga Springs are regularly occupied by Vacation Club members, a number are always available to the general public. The additional amenities and home-away-from-home atmosphere that these villas provide are very popular with families.

Resort Layout

The Saratoga Springs Resort is divided into six neighborhood sections, each named for a spa or equestrian centered destination. The Springs, The Paddock, The Carousel, the Grandstand, Congress Park, and the Treehouse Villas each have elegant four-story buildings with guest villas of up to three bedrooms.

The villas at Saratoga Springs can accommodate anywhere from four to twelve guests at a time depending on the size. The studio villas are similar to standard hotel rooms with the addition of a kitchenette, while the three-bedroom grand villas with full kitchens, living and dining areas, and multiple bathrooms, are truly luxurious home-away-from-home experiences.

Treehouse Villas

For additional privacy and a unique treetop experience, Saratoga Springs offers a number of Treehouse Villas. These two-bedroom villas each have their own stand-alone structure elevated onto ten-foot stilts. Surrounded by woods, these raised villas give the sensation of a home nestled in the treetops. The granite countertops in the kitchen, exposed beams, and large bathrooms aren’t bad either!  These villas deserve their Deluxe resort designation and aren’t your standard tree houses.

Dining Options

Many guests at Saratoga Springs choose to take advantage of their own kitchen facilities to provide most of their meals, but it is always nice to have a back-up for times when you don’t feel like cooking. There are a couple of casual dining options at this resort for a quick and tasty meal.

The Turf Club Bar and Grill

American food, a casual setting, and impressive views of the Buena Vista Golf Course and Disney Springs are the chief attractions of this restaurant. Pasta, sandwiches, salads, and seafood are a few of the menu selections guests can find here.

If you prefer to enjoy your meal while watching television or playing a game of pool, you can order your food from the Turf Club Lounge and eat in a relaxing club atmosphere.

The Artist’s Palette

The Artist’s Palette is a three-in one dining, take-out, and grocery shopping location for Saratoga Springs guests. There are a number of counters for quick service dining, as well as a market for sticking up on food to cook in the comfort of your own villa kitchen.

High Rock Springs Pool

The main High Rock Springs pool, modeled after a beautiful natural spring, features a waterslide, a footbridge, a zero-entry ramp, and swirling whirlpool spas. Nearby, children can enjoy the wet play area with a giant, interactive Donald Duck.

There are smaller and quieter pools for guests to enjoy in both the Grandstand and Congress Park sections. This is a great option for avoiding the crowds at the feature pool on busy days, or taking a quick dip without needing to hike to the main pool area.

Other Recreation Opportunities

Children can enjoy the two playgrounds next to the quiet pools at the Grandstand and Congress Park sections. The Win, Place or Show Arcade with video games and pinball machines is located near the High Rock Springs complex.

A pair of clay court tennis courts are free for resort guests to use on a first-come first-served basis.

For avid golfers, the Lake Buena Vista Golf Course is located right next door to the Saratoga Springs Resort.

Two jogging trails take runners along tree-lined paths through the bucolic grounds of the resort. There is a 0.8 mile loop and a 1.44 mile loop for guests to choose.

Another great way to explore the resort is on a bicycle, and bikes and associated safety equipment can be rented from Horsing Around Rentals (love the name of that shop).

The Spa

Few things take your vacation to the next level like a luxurious visit to a spa. The Spa at Saratoga Springs is an award-winning treatment facility with an emphasis on healing through water.

Choose from a menu of massage therapies, facials, hand and foot treatments, or body treatments. The spa also offers couples relaxation experiences, and even a set of spa treatments designed for children.

Pros and Cons

Saratoga Springs offers great access to Disney Springs and the dining and shopping opportunities there. This sprawling resort, and especially the private Treehouse Villas, offers one of the most peaceful accommodations at Disney World.

The size and location of the resort may not be so ideal for guests who plan to spend most of their time at the theme parks. It can take a while to get across the resorts to the bus stops or to a restaurant for a timely meal. It also takes time to get from the Disney Springs Resort Area to the Magic Kingdom, so families for whom this ever popular park is their top priority should keep that in mind when choosing this resort.

Is Saratoga Springs the Resort For You?

While some families may be discouraged by the distance of this resort from the Magic Kingdom, others that plan to settle in for a more extended vacation may find this to be the ideal spot. The homey atmosphere and peaceful surroundings of Saratoga Springs make this a perfect place to relax away from the bustle of the theme parks.
