Disneyland Delays Reopening

Back in early June, the Disneyland Resort announced a proposed plan to reopen its two theme parks (Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure) on July 17.  That plan was contingent on approval by California state and local governments.

It now seems that Disneyland will delay its reopening.

Disneyland management made plans to adjust their operations at Disneyland, just as they had at other parks around the world, including Shanghai Disney Resort, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, and Walt Disney World Resort.

The State of California does not plan to release theme park reopening guidelines until sometime after July 4.  Since it takes time for Disney to adjust their plans and recall thousands of Cast Members, they have decided to delay their reopening until they have approval from the government.

Disneyland still plans to reopen Downtown Disney on July 9 as previously planned.  The shopping and entertainment district will include new health and safety protocols.  That reopening is in line with restaurant and shopping plans for the rest of the state.  The Cast Member union that represents Downtown Disney has approved the reopening plan.
