Sources are reporting that, now that Disney World has closed its parks, it has also stopped construction projects due to Coronavirus.  There are no timelines yet for when the projects will continue.

This is in line with the latest Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines that events of 10 or more people be canceled or postponed.

The same sources report that Dennis Speigel, CEO of consulting firm International Theme Park Services, said the short term plans were for closing two to three weeks.  Now, however, closures will be extended indefinitely.  He added that we are in uncharted territory and nobody – including theme park operators – knows what will happen.

Large construction projects, like the PLAY! Pavilion, are shutting down.

The timelines for larger projects, like the new Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind roller coaster and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in Epcot, will almost certainly be impacted.  Smaller projects with few workers, like the repainting of Cinderella Castle, might continue.

Surprised that Disney is stopping construction projects?
