Disney World Drops Outdoor Mask Requirement

Following a similar move by Universal Orlando, and after announcements about health protocol changes by Orange County and the CDC, Disney World has dropped its requirement that guests wear masks while outdoors.  This is the first time since the Disney World parks reopened in July 2020 that guests can visit Disney property without wearing a mask.

The change became effective today, May 15, 2021.

Specifically, Disney says that masks are no longer required for :

  • Outdoor common areas
  • Pool decks

Masks Still Need Indoors

While many guests will welcome this news as we enter the hot Florida summer, Disney still does require masks at indoor locations.  Specifically, guests must wear masks in these situations:

  • Upon entering and throughout all attractions
  • All theaters, including theater entrances
  • All transportation, including transportation entrances
  • All indoor locations, including restaurants, except when actively eating or drinking while stationary

Glad that you don’t need to wear a mask when outdoors at Disney World?
