Disney Files Construction Permit For EPCOT Work

In these times of uncertainty and project cancellations and delays, it is exciting when we see progress.

Here is a sign of some progress:  Walt Disney Imagineering filed a construction permit with Orange County for some work near Spaceship Earth.

While the pre-Coronavirus plans were for Disney to give Spaceship Earth a major facelift, those plans are now on hold.

That said, there is still construction work going on near Spaceship Earth.

Construction Permit

Imagineering filed the permit on July 30, 2020, to “install east support facility graphics” at 1330 Avenue of the Stars, Bay Lake, FL 32830 – which is a location near the front of EPCOT.

A contracting firm called Design Communications LTD will do the work.  The company is known for creating and installing custom signs, experiential elements, and interactive technology.  It is believed that Design Communications created and installed some of the components in The EPCOT Experience.

What exactly does this mean?

It could be that Disney is finishing up work in the new EPCOT entrance plaza north of Spaceship Earth, or that they are adding a photo display, or even that they are installing some type of images near the new Guardians of the Galaxy coaster.  It is hard to say for sure. However, it is easy to say that it is exciting to see more work progressing on the makeover of EPCOT!
