Many people think of Disney as a profitable company, they are also a very philanthropic company.  They have an entire team of Disney Cast Members called VoluntEARS who donate their time to help local families in need.

On May 4th (often associated with Star Wars), more than 100 Disney VoluntEARS sorted and organized thousands of books by appropriate ages and genres then helped distribute 40,000 Disney-themed books to the local community during the second annual First Book Family Festival.

Disney has donated nearly 70 million books to children in need.

Disney has donated nearly 70 million books to children in need.

During the festival, local educators and families were offered a no-cost shopping experience full of books from Disney Worldwide Publishing. Educators could choose up to 50 books to share with their students, and families could select up to five books per child. For many children, this was their first book.

It was all made possible through Disney’s long-time partnership with First Book, a local non-profit organization that provides books to low-income schools and families. To date, First Book and Disney have distributed nearly 70 million Disney-themed books to the Central Florida community.

Glad to see Disney donate books to kids?
