Top Ten Disney Cruise Line Activities for Adults

When adults think of Disney, they often think that it’s just for kids. This common misconception carries over to Disney Cruise Lines as well.

There’s a lot more than just water slides and character meet and greets, and I’m here to tell you about the top ten activities for adults on Disney Cruises.

Let’s take a look!

10. Cooking Demos

The International Food and Wine Festival has been hugely successful in Epcot‘s World Showcase and has even expanded into Future World to increase the number of locations for the festival. Some fans of this popular event hope that it will become a year-round thing, but that’s a story for another article.

If you like the Food and Wine Festival, you’ll love the cooking demonstrations aboard Disney Fantasy. The executive chefs take a break from the kitchens to teach DCL guests how to make elaborate dishes with easy to follow directions. They encourage guests to ask questions throughout the demo, so if you want to make this dish at home, you’ll understand all of the intricacies. You’ll even get a full-size tasting after the demo.

9. Wine and Cocktail tastings

Another popular part of the Food and Wine Festival is the wine and cocktail tasting. Disney’s master mixologists will teach DCL cruisers about premium wines and spirits. You’ll learn how to select, pair, and taste a variety of wines and how to make some of the best cocktails around.

Included in these demos are full recipes, product information, and step-by-step instructions. Obviously, this is an adults-only event for cruisers who are at least 21 years of age.

7. Art Gallery

Another entertainment option onboard every Disney ship is a gallery full of Disney art.  Oh, my credit card hurts thinking about it!

There is both modern and vintage art in the gallery, and many Disney artists are represented. The gallery, which is located mid-ship, offers a self-guided tour, so you can enjoy the art at anytime and at your own pace.

6. Pin Trading with the Crew

While you can trade Disney pins at any Disney park and even online, pin trading on Disney cruises is a bit different.

Senior staff members aboard these ships have traveled near and far and have gathered Disney pins from all over the world. During these events, you can meet face to face with the crew, chat with them about their travels, and settle on a trade. This is a great way to get unique souvenirs that you may not be able to buy on board or in the parks.

If you like Disney Trading Pins, consider signing up for the World of Walt Pin of the Month Club and get a Disney pin delivered to your mailbox every month!

5. Games

If you like to play trivia games and watch game shows on television, you’ll love the games on the Disney Cruises. Cast Members dress up and act like retro game show hosts. They challenge you to test not only your general knowledge but also your Disney facts in a competitive atmosphere. You can also win prizes as you play!

4. Sports and Fitness

Every Disney Cruise Ship has fitness clubs with weights, treadmills, and stationary bikes so you won’t have to give up your daily fitness routine during your vacation.

If your cruise stops at Castaway Cay, you can participate in an early morning 5k run around the island. Not only will you get an amazing scenic view of Castaway Cay, but you’ll also get a finishers medal!

Castaway Cay is a gorgeous private island, so getting to the beach early could also mean snagging a great stop to do some meditation or yoga.

3. Live Shows

DCL hires some of the best performers, and they take their act to the high seas. From comedy to live music and variety shows, you can find just about any kind of show you like. Some shows are appropriate for the whole family while others are for adults only. Shows run daily in the afternoon and evening hours.

2. Captain’s Reception

You may want to know who’s steering the ship – literally. During the captain’s reception, cruisers can meet and greet the ship’s captain and her crew. You’ll enjoy live music and hors’d’ oeuvres while you mingle with fellow cruisers and the crew.

You might even make a new friend or get some inside information about the ship! Don’t be afraid to talk to someone or ask questions of the Cast. They love to find a fellow Disney fan.

1. Movies

Disney Cruise Lines shows first run and classic Disney movies in their state of the art theaters. These movies are free with your cruise cost, and you can purchase candy, popcorn, and drinks just like at your movie theater at home.
