Disney currently offers free transportation to and from their Disney resort hotels for anyone flying into and out of Orlando International Airport (MCO). This service, Disney’s Magical Express, is widely used, convenient, and did I mention free?
But Disney might be looking to expand their transportation services that return guests to MCO by way of their Minnie Mouse-themed vehicles run with technology provided by Lyft.
These red vans with white polka-dots are so cute, you could almost hug them! They launched in the summer of 2017 shortly after the service was announced at the D23 Expo. For a while, they provided taxi-style service anywhere from Deluxe Resort Hotels to anywhere on property eliminating the need to ride the bus, monorail, or ferry to get to where you needed to go. As a bonus, Minnie Vans also dropped you off to your location much closer than any cab could.
Now, Disney is testing out a new service that will return guests to the airport after their stay is over. Currently, only guests staying at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn at the Club Level are eligible, but this service could expand to other Disney Resort Hotels if it’s successful.
One thing guests don’t like about with the Magical Express is that Disney wants to pick you up several hours before your flight leaves – just to be sure they’re not responsible for making your miss your flight. Choosing to use the Minnie Vans would allow you to set your own return time. However, convenience comes at a cost: $150 to be exact. Ouch.
The future of Disney’s Minnie Van service holds lots of possibility, and Disney seems to be experimenting with their ideas to see what works and what doesn’t.
Would you pay $150 to take a Minnie Van back to the airport?
