Four Things You Can Collect For Free At Disney World

Most people want to get something tangible from their vacation to Disney World that will act as a reminder of the memories they created during their visit. Disney offers plenty of merchandise in its stores. Most all of it is wonderful, and most all of it is also expensive.

Fortunately, there are many things you can collect for free during your vacation. Perhaps using the word “free” is just a little bit of a stretch. Even if you don’t have to directly pay for these items, you do have to indirectly pay for them.

But let’s not get too hung up on the technicalities.

Let’s look at some fun “free” stuff you can collect during your trip to Disney World:

1 – Park Guide Maps

In my opinion, the guide maps are wonderful free souvenirs. They are colorful, have great photography, and have a map of the theme park so you can relive all the miles you walked going from place to place.

2 – Character Autographs

You pay for these autographs not with money, but with your time – standing in line, patiently waiting for your turn. But giving Mickey Mouse a big hug can be magical. Use PhotoPass to get a picture of the moment or use your own camera. Combine some simple print outs of the photos with the autographs, and you’ve got a great memory.

3 – Shampoo And Soap

The package design for the free soap and shampoo offered to Disney Resort Hotel guests changes over time, but it’s always fun. You can ask your mousekeeping staff (the Disney version of housekeeping) for some extras and they are usually happy to oblige.

4 – Celebrate Buttons

If it’s your birthday, anniversary, or first visit to Disney World, you can stop by the main Guest Services location at the park entrance. They will give you a free “celebrate” button personalized with your name. It’s fun to wear in the park – many Cast Members and others will wish you a happy birthday, happy anniversary, etc. Occasionally they will give you something extra (don’t expect it, but enjoy it as a nice little bonus if it happens). And it is fun to keep the button afterwards as a special reminder of your special day at Disney World.
