Nearly 20 years ago, Cirque du Soleil partnered up with Disney and built a large, white circus tent on the West Side of Downtown Disney. La Nouba had a home.
Since then, 11 million guests have attended 9,000 shows, and performers have donned 21 million costumes and headpieces as they flipped 2.8 million times on the PowerTrack. Even as Downtown Disney transitioned to Disney Springs, La Nouba survived.
Nothing can last forever, and just as Walt himself said, (I’m paraphrasing) Disney World will never be completed as long as there is Imagination in the world.
Fortunately, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts and Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group have some of the most creative people in the business. Cirque du Soleil has said that they are incredibly inspired by Disney, and guests should expect the new performance to showcase classic Disney animation. It will be a celebration of Disney’s storytelling with a craftsmanship that only Disney has in Cirque’s signature style.
La Nouba will make its last curtain call on December 31st, 2017, and the tent will close while the new show is finalized.
While no opening date has been announced for the new show, nor do we have a name for it. However, we do know that the show is already in development. Hopefully that means that it won’t be closed too long!
New Cirque du Soleil show – looking forward to it?
