Cinderella’s Castle Goes Purple and Gold For NBA Champs

Walt Disney World is celebrating the 2020 NBA Champions Los Angeles Lakers.

Cinderella’s Castle donned a new set of colors, purple and gold, in honor of the team’s 2020 championship run.

Walt Disney World was home to “the bubble”, where NBA teams were forced into a lockdown style life (forced to stay on Disney property) for months while playing the 2020 NBA Playoffs. Although “the bubble” was mentally and physically taxing on the players and executives, the overall view of “the bubble” was positive and mitigated any possible COVID-19 outbreaks during the unique season.

Last night the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Miami Heat to cap off a truly unique and historic year in the NBA’s history.

Disney Parks Blog had the following to say about the Lakers win:

We added a little extra magic to the moment by lighting Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom Park in the team’s primary colors – purple and gold – immediately following Game 6 of the Finals. In July, the NBA resumed its 2019-2020 season, bringing 22 teams to ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex to compete for a spot in the NBA Playoffs. After three months and 205 total games, the 2019-2020 NBA Finals concluded with a Lakers victory over the Miami Heat.  Congratulations again to the Lakers for an incredible performance, capping off an amazing, unprecedented NBA season! “.

Glad that the NBA bubble at Disney is over?  Happy with the results?
