Disney’s PhotoPass service is a great way to capture moments during your Disney vacation and remember them for years to come. The best part is that everyone gets to be in the picture because Disney Photographers take the photos.
While thinking about reopening amid a pandemic, Disney has had to rethink some of their procedures. Everything from the coveted FastPass+ and Advanced Dining Reservations to how you take a rest has been changed.
The latest change to be announced has to do with the PhotoPass service. Disney says that these changes are temporary, but there’s no indication as to how long “temporary” is.
Here are three changes you’ll notice if you visit Disney World in the near future.
1 – No Guest Devices
The first change has to do with your own devices.
Until now, Disney PhotoPass Photographers were happy to use your device (cell phone, camera, tablet, etc.) to take photos. This was nice because it was free! While taking the photos with PhotoPass is free to use, you have to pay for individual photos or pay one fee to get all of the photos.
Now, to practice reduced contact with guests, Cast Member Photographers will not take photos with your devices.
2 – Props
Remember those cool props that you could use like frames and signs? They’ll still be available, but your interaction with them may be different.
Photographers may ask that you stand next to or behind the prop without touching it. This implies that Disney will come up with a way to support the prop when you used to have to hold it. Anything that you do touch will be cleaned before the next guests get their photos taken.
This will undoubtedly cause some backup. Pre-pandemic, it wasn’t unusual to see guests lined up and wait several minutes to get their photos taken. With the new procedures, you may wait even longer.
3 – Linking Photos
To speed up the process as much as possible, Disney requests that you have your MagicBand or card ready so the photographer can scan it quickly and keep the line moving. While scanning, the photographer will keep as much distance between you both as possible.
PhotoPass Guidelines: Cast Members won’t take photos with your device. Good idea?
