Four Great Benefits Of Staying At Disney’s Coronado Springs

When selecting a Disney Resort Hotel for a family vacation, many folks immediately rule out Disney’s Coronado Springs.

This resort deserves its reputation as a convention hotel, set up for business people.

It’s also a bit out of the way, in a relatively undeveloped corner of the property between Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It’s not really very close to anything.

In addition, it’s a big resort. There can be benefits to being big, but at the Coronado, a side-effect of being big is that you will likely do a lot of walking just to get from the check-in area (with shops and restaurants) to your room. Bring your walking shoes.

Silver Lining

But even with these drawbacks, there are still plenty of reasons why Coronado Springs is something of a hidden gem among Disney’s resort hotels. Here are four reasons why you might want to consider booking your next stay at the Coronado:

Coronado Springs is a big resort with plenty to offer.

1 – Amazing Pool

Many of the pools at Disney hotels are nice, but not spectacular. The pool at Disney’s Yacht And Beach Club, known as Stormalong Bay, is a wonderful exception – many consider that pool to be an attraction in its own right, and Disney actually monitors and restricts the entrance to the pool to guests of that resort only. In the same way, the pool at Coronado Springs is something special. Affectionately known as The Digg Site, the pool is dominated by a huge Mayan pyramid that houses a water slide that is more than 100 feet long. If you like to spend some at the pool, you will enjoy The Digg Site.

2 – Nightclub

When you think of Disney hotels, you don’t normally think of nightclubs. But the Coronado is home to Rix Lounge. This resort is geared toward convention goers –those folks who need someplace to have a bit of grown-up fun after a long day of meetings and lectures. Rix Lounge is just such a place. It features a tapas menu and plenty of interesting cocktails. There is also a DJ on selected nights. Disney doesn’t really promote Rix Lounge – it doesn’t really fit with the Disney image – but if you seek it out you will be rewarded with some good, clean, grown-up fun.

3 – Spa

Coronado Springs is the only Disney Moderate Resort that includes a full service spa, health club, and salon. The La Vida Health Club & Spa has plenty to offer. The health club offers bikes, treadmills, elliptical machines, weight machines, and free weights. The spa offers plenty of luxurious treatments, including Swedish massage, facials, and in-room massage. The Casa De Belleza Salon offers services for men, women, and children, including haircuts, trims, coloring, and makeup.

4 – Business Center

You may be on vacation, but (unfortunately) the world outside the Disney bubble marches on even when you are spending some quality time with your family and Mickey Mouse. If you need to work while on vacation, having access to the amenities of the business center can be very handy. You can rent a computer in 15 minute increments, make copies, fax papers, utilize the services of a notary public, purchase office supplies, and ship parcels via FedEx and UPS.

Great Benefits

While the Coronado Springs Resort might seem a bit out of the way and too business-like, it still offers great benefits that make it a wonderful choice for many folks on vacation, too.
