Main stage for The American Idol Experience

Audition for American Idol in Disney World

ABC, Disney’s cable network, recently acquired the long-running talent competition, American Idol.

As I reported several months ago, this means that Disney is going to be a prime spot for American Idol auditions. Now, I have some more details for you!

Open auditions will be held at Disney Springs at the Walt Disney World Resort on Thursday, August 17th. Winners from previous seasons including Jordin Sparks, Kris Allen, and Ruben Studdard will be on hand to meet Idol hopefuls.

If you can’t make it on the 17th, there’s still time. From Friday, August 18th through Friday, September 15th, there will be a pop-up kiosk at Disney Springs during regular operating hours where you can create and submit an audition video. You can also submit a video online right now!

If you are planning to come to the open auditions on the 17th, there are some things Disney wants you to know.

1. Hours

Auditions will begin at 8am, but parking will be available as early as 4am for those who are early birds. Plan to arrive early and park in the surface parking lot on the West Side of Disney Springs near the House Of Blues and Cirque du Soleil.

Registration starts at 6am and closes at noon or when they’ve reached capacity, which is 4,000 participants.

If past events are any guide, you will want to be there before the crack of dawn.

2. Dress appropriately

We’ve all seen those eccentric outfits and furry costumes, but you’ll want to dress appropriately for this event. Auditions will be held outside, and with the Florida sun, you’re going to want to protect yourself. Wear a hat and sunscreen and make sure you drink plenty of water.

3. Eligibility Requirements

All participants must be at least 15 years of age and no more than 28 years of age to audition. You also must be a legal US resident with the right to work and no contractual obligations with another management company. The show is set to begin in January 2018, so you’ll need to be available at this time.
