Gideon’s Bakehouse Temporarily Closes After Soft Opening

The highly anticipated Gideon’s Bakehouse opened on December 23, 2020, in Disney Springs. Cookie lovers across the internet were raving about the theming of Disney’s new dessert spot but most importantly, the sweets!

Long lines stretched around Disney Springs during the opening day with a closely guarded door to assure no secrets were given away.  The shop regularly had two to three hour waits with a virtual queue before guests could enter the shop.  Once inside guests were greeted with an eery Haunted Mansion feeling and an unbelievable menu of desserts.

After their Grand Opening, Gideon’s Bakehouse posted on their official Instagram that the Disney Springs location would temporarily close.

Gideon’s had the following to say:

“Effective this evening, Gideon’s Bakehouse at Disney Springs will be temporarily closed. Keep your eyes here for news on our reopen, and we welcome you to visit our @eastendmkt location to satisfy your dessert cravings. Thank you!⁣
UPDATE! It would seem I picked a bad night to disconnect and watch the Bee Gees documentary! 😅 Thank you, everyone, for the concern. We are still in a soft opening mode. We’ve learned a great deal over our holiday test run and are so grateful to everyone for making it such an overwhelming success! Our opening was beyond our expectations, so we are putting on the brakes to deal with behind-the-scenes logistics ahead of the grand opening. Keep an eye out here for news. ⁣My apologies to everyone that didn’t get a response to your emails and DM’s last night. It’s become too much today for me to reply to them all”.

The shop may have temporarily been a victim of it's incredible success.

News of Gideon’s closing shocked and disappointed guests who did not get a chance to see the Bakehouse in person. It does appear that the newest addition to Disney Springs will reopen at some point in the near future.
