Restaurantosaurus Review: Quirky, Tasty Fun

Restaurantosaurus is a counter-service dining option in Animal Kingdom and is located in Dinoland U.S.A.

Like the rest of Dinoland, this dining establishment has an elaborate story behind its origination, but here is the abbreviated version. It served as a cafeteria (and apparently a gymnasium) for college students participating in a dig nearby. To subsidize their grant money, they opened the restaurant to the public and, like surrounding places, added –osaurus to the name.

Atmosphere

The quirky theming reflects the backstory. Diners will find a jukebox with appropriate music selections like End of the World and Sixteen Tons. There is also homey kitchen décor, pictures, mementos, postcards, and 45s.

The restaurant also feels like it’s been expanded to add more seating areas as more patrons began frequenting. One room called The Hip Joint is a nod to the Dinosaurs. Another is an Airstream camper, which seems to be tacked onto the outside of the building. Guests who are lucky enough to sit in the Airstream will have arguably the most entertaining seating area in the joint.

Menu

It’s not just the atmosphere that thrills. The menu is good. too!

Guests will find a standard queue ordering experience, and to keep with the theming, the menu board looks like a chalkboard.

Choose from the famous chicken nugget platter, the Angus bacon cheeseburger, a mac & cheese hot dog, or a vegetarian black bean burger with southwest spices, cheddar cheese, and avocado. Most of these are served with fries, but other side options are available. Most sandwiches come undressed, but feel free to visit the condiment bar for lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, relish, ketchup, mustard, ranch dressing, honey mustard, salt, pepper, and vinegar (for the fries).

Soft drinks have free refills, so choose from classic Coke products, tea, hot chocolate, or coffee. You can also try the Wildberry Lemonade, which is delicious, or the Wildberry Mango Rum Lemonade, which is a special kind of delicious!

Desserts include Chocolate Mousse or Cheesecake in a glass, which can be purchased just about anywhere in Animal Kingdom. If you have a hankering for something sweet, you won’t want to miss either of these desserts!
