When Disney first announced the opening of the Marketplace Co-Op in Disney Springs, it seemed a bit curious. The idea was to roll out five different “shops within a shop”; in other words, five different stores under one roof.
Some folks wondered if Disney was just cobbling together a store from left-over ideas and merchandise. Others wondered if Disney would present a hodgepodge that didn’t make sense.
Fortunately, the end result of the Marketplace Co-Op is neither left-overs nor a hodgepodge. Instead, it is an interesting mix of merchandise that will appeal to a wide audience and will allow Disney to change things up as trends dictate.
Let’s take a look at each of the different stores in the Co-Op:
Centerpiece
For Disney fans who love Disney Parks but don’t necessarily want their house to look like a kid’s room, the Centerpiece shop will become a must-visit location in Disney Springs. The idea for the Centerpiece store is to provide trendy home décor items with a bit of sophisticated flair that adults will enjoy bringing into their homes.
There is a wide variety of merchandise including glasses, plates, salt and pepper shakers, decorations, and throw pillows.
Disney covers a wide range of theme park attractions and characters. You will see merchandise that pays homage to the lands in the Magic Kingdom, to specific attractions like Space Mountain and the Tiki Room, and to characters like the Orange Bird.
I’ve seen some of the items around the parks, but other pieces seem new. All of the stuff is pretty cool.
Let’s take a look:
Cherry Tree Lane
Cherry Tree Lane provides accessories for ladies including jewelry, handbags, and scarves. I’ve seen some of this merchandise at other Disney shops, but Cherry Tree Lane pulls all these accessories together in one place.
Let’s take a look:
Beautifully Disney
This shop offers the official Disney line of make-up and features things like perfume, lipstick, and nail polish. There are also beauty supplies that are not specifically branded as Disney.
Let’s take a look:
D-Tech on Demand
If you want to accessorize your smart phone with a custom Disney case, this is the place to visit. You can design your own custom phone case at computer terminals, and Disney will print your custom design onto your case. You can also choose from a large selection of ready-made cases.
Let’s take a look:
The Trophy Room
This is a great stop for the sports fan in your life. The Trophy Room offers logo merchandise for many different professional sports team as well as athletic collectibles.
Let’s take a look:
Zoey & Pickles
If you know a young girl who likes trendy and colorful clothes, you will be sure to find something she will love at Zoey & Pickles.
Let’s take a look:
Stores On Wheels?
I know that Disney wanted these shops to be able to adjust quickly to changing trends. The display cases all seem to be on wheels, which should allow Disney to literally roll out old displays and roll in new ones very quickly. This is a very interesting design approach.
