Epcot Food and Wine Festival – Liquid Nitro Chocolate Truffle: Frozen Deliciousness!

If you have visited the Walt Disney World Resort in the fall, you have probably noticed that the Epcot Food and Wine Festival draws huge crowds to Epcot. Years ago Epcot was very quiet in October and November, but now it is very busy.

The great food and drinks from the Festival attract people, but so do the unique offerings added each year.

This year, the inventive chefs at Disney World are serving up a very unique treat – one that in all likelihood you simply can’t make for yourself at home.

Why can’t you make it?

Because it requires liquid nitrogen, which is typically stored at around -340 F. Yes, that is super cold.

In the new “Next Eats” section, located in Future World near Innoventions, and not far from the Imagination pavilion, you can choose from a series of sustainable food items as well as a unique menu called the “Chew Lab”.

When I saw the “Liquid Nitro Chocolate-Almond Truffle,” topped with whiskey-caramel sauce, I had to try it. It was a reasonably priced $4.00.

Let’s take a look:

After placing my order, I had to wait a minute as the chef put a dollop of chocolate truffle in a container filled with liquid nitrogen to quickly chill it. After pulling it out, he smashed it into pieces and coated it with the caramel.

The treat was cold with a great chocolate flavor. I personally couldn’t detect any whiskey flavor in the caramel sauce, but it too was great.

Would you try chocolate frozen in liquid nitrogen at Epcot?
