Top Six Disney World Attractions for Car Lovers

They say there’s something for everyone at Disney World, and that couldn’t be more true for the car enthusiast. From restaurants to hotels and rides, Disney is sure to thrill the car lover in you.

1. Test Track

Test Track is the fastest ride in Disney World, and at 65 miles per hour, it also ranks as one of the fastest rides that have ever been built for a Disney Theme Park.

About halfway through the queue line, guests will enter a design room. Here, you will create a concept car. You can make it as efficient or as radical as you like. After the doors open, guests proceed to the 6-passenger ride vehicles to test the concept cars. Scan your MagicBand before boarding, and professionals will score your car based on a number of different road tests including a seat belt check, brake check, steering test, and a barrier test. I won’t give away too much since the surprise at the end can be quite exhilarating!

After unloading, you will enter a showroom with Chevrolet vehicles. Pose with a new Volt or the Camaro, and the pictures will be loaded on to your MagicBand. You can also sit in some of the newest Chevy vehicles. The kids can even test their concept car on a digital racetrack game board.

2. Cars-themed Family Suites

Art of Animation, the newest Disney Value Resort gives guests the opportunity to enter the world of Cars. With 480 suites sleeping up to six people, these are ideal accommodations for families. The parents even get a private master bedroom with an en suite! These larger than normal suites also have a kitchenette complete with a fridge and microwave for heating up leftovers, making a snack, or even making whole meals right in the room.

Walt Disney loved cars and he loved driving. It’s no surprise that he passed this love down to his grandson who wanted nothing more than to drive like his grandfather. Walt figured other kids had the same desire, so he built Autopia, the original Speedway. There were some problems with the original ride, like the kids actually crashing the cars, but with a few modifications, the ride was up and running. The current Tomorrowland Speedway is a four-lane, 2,000 foot track in Walt Disney World and allows guests over 54 inches to drive up to seven miles per hour while those over 32 inches can hitch a ride in the passenger seat. Don’t forget to ask for your Tomorrowland Speedway Driver’s License on your way out of the ride!

4. Sci-Fi Dine In Theater

This classic drive-in theater is a very unique dining experience in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. A 1960’s convertible American muscle car will serve as your table while the ceiling above you is a sky full of stars truly simulating the drive-in experience. Every meal includes a movie, so grab your malt milkshake and snuggle up to your Honey for a trip back in time. Ask your waitress for driver’s licenses for the kids before you leave!

5. Boathouse Amphicars

The Boathouse Restaurant is part of the Disney Springs expansion to Disney Springs. This dining establishment opened in April 2015, but the raw oyster bar and delectable desserts are not the main attraction. The Amphicars- short for amphibious cars- transition easily from the land to the water. The classic 1962-1967 era cars can seat up to three passengers in the backseat and reach speeds of up to 70 miles per hour on land and six knots on the lake. For $125, a professional driver will take you on a water tour of Disney Springs and Saratoga Springs. This is truly a unique experience that you likely won’t experience anywhere else.

6. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is the second fastest ride in Disney World and the only one that goes upside down. This thrill ride goes 0-60 in 2.8 seconds, and riders will feel 4.5 G-Force at the first inversion, which is more than an astronaut feels during a space shuttle launch. Satisfy your need for speed, and load up the super stretch limos complete with 120 speakers per car for a tour of the Hollywood Hills with Aerosmith. You won’t be disappointed!  Rock on!
